Osbornes Tableware Ltd.

Heritage

The first recorded mention of Sheffield cutlery is in 1340 in the inventory of King Edward III's possessions at the Tower of London.

The importance of the Sheffield cutlery industry to the country had grown to such a level that an Act of Parliament in 1624 formed the Company of Cutlers of Hallamshire to provide leadership and organisation to the industry under the watchful gaze of the Master Cutler.

Since Joshua Osborne first registered as a silversmith in 1709, a silversmith was also a cutler in those days, the Osborne name has had a presence in the Sheffield cutlery industry, which sets us apart from our rivals. He became Master Cutler in 1724 and from these roots Osborne continues to flourish.

With 300 years experience producing cutlery in Sheffield, the Osborne cutlery collection has a soul and charm all of its own; the retention of the traditional production techniques and our insistence that every item is individually checked ensures that even in today's world of technology, a craftsman's hand is still needed to deliver the highest quality.
